The group first took its name "The Pinch" in late 1988, when we were a three piece band comprising Matt on lead vocals and guitar, Daz on drums and Andy Well on bass. We played many Midland's venues as a Mod Revival band, playing classics by The Who, The Jam and occasionally throwing in a few sneaky Beatles numbers.
In late 1991 we changed the line up. Matt's older brother Jon took on lead vocals, Daz changed from drums to guitar, Matt remained on guitar and a new drummer Nigel was added to the line up. We continued playing the Midland's with a more powerful sound and we started to introduce some of our own material.
For reasons long forgotten to the run of time, we disbanded in 1994. We all went separate ways until we became at loose ends. After a few years of suffering itchy fingers Matt got back in touch with Daz and 2002 saw the re-birth of "The Pinch". Another drummer, Macca, was drafted in. Matt returned to playing the bass and Jon remained on lead vocals. "The Pinch" was back on the road as a four piece.
2004 saw the addition of Andy Green on rhythm guitar and more recently 2005 saw Tim Butcher take over as drummer. Andy Green left the band in late 2006. In the Summer of 2008 Tom Brookes joined playing Piano and Keyboard.
We play many of the old classics that will never die out - The Who, The Small Faces through to The Kinks and The Spencer Davis Group. Other Mod anthems are thrown in for good measure. We also play a selection of more modern tunes from artist including The Zutons, The Fratelis, Blur and Oasis |
